City Regeneration

Empty shops are an eyesore for any city centre, but thanks to #DMUlocal, Leicester’s unused spaces are transformed to help the community and share DMU expertise.

Instead of a vacant storefront, #DMUlocal creates colourful, eye-catching pop-up events that can change people’s lives.

This means that when a shop is left unused in Leicester city centre, the public can still benefit from a range of transformative projects while shopping and socialising.

City Regeneration events range from art exhibitions showcasing De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) student prowess, to activities that have a real-world, even life-changing, impact.

Previous events have included a Stem Cell drive, which helped save the life of a woman with leukaemia, as well as Free Hearing Screenings that raised awareness about ear health.
