Alongside the projects listed on the map, the following education projects took place in schools across Leicester:
Over 1,200 schoolchildren from 17 schools took part in #DMUlocal Coding Clubs, which saw Square Mile volunteers teach bespoke lessons to support teachers to fulfil national curriculum requirements for coding.
Tech Future Girls Club
Children engaged with science technology, engineering and mathematics as part of a fun club designed to promote STEM subjects to girls.
Education Studies Placements
16 schools in Leicester benefited from having a dedicated Education Studies student placed with them to provide classroom support.
DMU students provided academic mentoring to over 40 students in the lead up to their GCSE exams.
EAL (English as an Additional Language) Support
Schoolchildren with English as an additional language received specific support from a student who spoke their natural language to enhance learning.
DMU volunteers travel to schools across Leicester once a week to work one-to-one with schoolchildren to improve their reading.
Square Mile volunteers were paired with a young learner to help them consider their future career aspirations and how their behaviour can change to help them achieve their potential.
LGBTQ+ Campaign Support in Schools
Square Mile volunteers spent time in local secondary schools to help students come up with their own campaigns to tackle LGBTQ+ discrimination and bullying in the classroom and outside of it.
