You are invited to a fun-filled evening of Bollywood-style celebrations with music, dance and great food to raise money for DMU Square Mile India.
The fundraiser takes place on Friday 27 October 2017 at The Venue@DMU from 6pm and will help with the continued support of the Gandhi Ashram.
Tickets cost only £5, with refreshments included in the price of the ticket. There will also be a raffle. You can reserve tickets online at this link, by calling into the Square Mile office or the Help Zone on the lower ground floor of the Hawthorn Building, or from student volunteers on campus (wearing pink DMU Square Mile T-shirts).
DMU’s Square Mile India initiative officially launched in February 2016, and has since seen 25 trips head to India with students, staff and friends of the university. In total, 18 trips have been to Ahmedabad, in Gujarat, to work with Manav Sadhna, based at the historic Gandhi Ashram. Participants of the trips have engaged with hundreds of children and adults from the local slum communities, volunteering on various projects.
Since the launch, more than £35,000 has been raised. Currently any funds raised support the 120 children that live in the Manav Sadhna Hostel, providing them with food, shelter, medical supplies, sports equipment, school uniforms, extra education and much more.
The Bollywood Party is also an opportunity for students to help the Square Mile India team and gain useful volunteering experience. The booking form is available here.
